Job Description:

  • We’re looking for a driven and creative video editor to join the Originals Team at Snap, leading the edit, GFX, color, sound design/mix, and finishing for one of our latest series, Good Luck Los Angeles!.

What you’ll do:

  • Produce and edit a wide range of highly visible projects for mobile, primarily Good Luck Los Angeles, our weekly news program about issues facing the people at the local level.

  • Help define Good Luck Los Angeles’s visual sensibility and editorial scope, leading all stages of the editing process from ideation through to production and delivery, including GFX, motion GFX, sound design/mix, and color grade.

  • Make creative decisions that help inform our community on local news, issues, and politics in Los Angeles, including assisting in story selection and researching footage for local Los Angeles coverage, identifying the issues affecting real Angelenos.

  • Use your news savvy to identify key points of interest within large and complex issues and translate those into accessible. segments that resonate with our audience and attract new viewers.

  • Consistently search for opportunities to refine the show and make it even more compelling to the local audience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree or 5+ years of experience in post-production video editing, including or with a focus on vertical video.

  • Experience editing news content.

  • Passion for journalism, Los Angeles current events & politics, and local news.

  • Proficiency in digital video post production programs: Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Adobe Media Encoder, and Adobe After Effects.

  • Knowledgeable about contemporary editing/camera file formats and codecs.

  • Intermediate to advanced skills in keying and 2D compositing.

  • Intermediate motion graphics and stationary graphics skills..

  • Experience with sound design and mixing.

  • Direct experience through the production to post pipeline.

  • Able to work 40 hours a week or more as projects dictate.

  • Experienced and confident with Mac OS, iOS, and G-Suite apps.

  • Open to creative feedback.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Audition.

  • Lead Editor experience on a show, proven success managing teams.

  • Story producing/edit consulting experience in cases where edit is not working.

  • Working knowledge of other Adobe CC applications: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.

  • Able to create advanced composited shots, animations, and motion graphics.

  • Some experience utilizing 3D graphics.
