Job Details:

• MUST HAVE is Alation Data Catalog tool

• Experience with implementing data catalogs and understanding of common pitfalls and challenges with successful implementation, preferably in a government and/or education space.

• Understanding of best practices for data governance and documentation in a government context.

• Experience training stakeholders and driving the adoption of a data catalog or similar solution.

• Data analyst proficiency with SQL and familiarity with state education data. Experience developing and providing training to support adoption of a new platform.

• Work with Data Hub analysts to ensure prioritized data assets are documented, with correct owners, permissions, links, etc. Use tools in Alation to:

• Establish a process to gather feedback to identify pain points, issues or impact on business processes, and propose solutions

• Create and maintain a list of prioritized data assets to be documented

• Troubleshoot issues with Alation as they arise

• Experience creating data marts or materialized views in Snowflake for needed data tables

• Experience implementing data catalogs and understanding of common pitfalls, challenges and best practices with successful implementation, preferably in a government and/or education space

• Critical soft skills - consultative, forward-thinking, creative problem solver, Ability to think conceptually and practically
