The Senior Technical Editor position determines and communicates the technical editorial style directions for CLIENT selects external editorial vendors, and helps ensure that publications comply with CLIENT editing standards. The position also provides oversight to editors, both internal and external, to ensure the editorial quality of CLIENT published materials. The Senior Technical Editor also works with outside contractors and vendors, internal technical staff, and the creative services team to ensure alignment with corporate standards for publications. The Senior Production Editor contributes to our technical publications at all levels; working on ideas and concepts with our project managers to bring a consistent, high quality look and feel to deliverables. The Senior Technical Editor is excited by technology and the possibilities of delivering our research results in new formats.
Guides the editorial process for technical publications and supports some editing of marketing publications.
Oversight of technical editing projects including teaming with internal technical staff and corporate communications.
Resolves word organizational problems and wording and technical expressions in text and in accompanying graphs, tables, and visual aids.
Obtains approval on edited publications including consulting and negotiating with technical staff as needed to ensure both accuracy and clarity of communication.
Maintains quality control and fact checking in all revisions and production stages.
Supports the selection, assignment, and helps direct the work of freelance editors and proofreaders.
Assists on special projects.
Education and Experience:
7-10 years of editorial experience, preferably with technical material for non-technical audiences.
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience and understanding of an integrated editing process workflow.
Ability to develop and implement effective solutions to resolve problems.
Knowledge of writing styles, style guides, and acceptable methods of expression in technical fields.
Excellent oral and written skills.

Knowledge of MS Office with demonstrated professional expertise in MS Word.
Some expertise with Adobe InDesign, Creative Suite and Acrobat Professional.
