Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Perform assessments and investigations in support of compliance/privacy activities and address the adequacy and effectiveness of related policies, systems, processes, and controls across client.

  • Compliance areas may include ADA, sexual harassment, Title IX, EEO/Affirmative Action and institutional compliance.

CORE DUTIES:

  • Prepare and execute assessments and investigations in close collaboration with program managers in accordance with recognized standards.

  • Consult and advise university staff on best practices and the handling of complex and sensitive information; develop, deliver and implement education and training.

  • Participate in the planning and drafting of policies and procedures.

  • Conduct periodic follow-up reviews to assess and report on progress or completion of management’s corrective actions in response to observations and recommendations.

  • Conduct investigations of suspected compliance and privacy violations of law and policy in conjunction with other audit/investigation staff and university resources.

  • Contribute to developing an annual work plan.

  • Prepare and review work paper documentation to ensure it supports conclusions and results based on appropriate analyses and evaluations.

  • Communicate the results of compliance/privacy projects via written reports and oral presentations to management.

  • Participate as part of a project team on compliance/privacy related topics.

  • Monitor current compliance/privacy trends, legislation and activities, assist in implementing best practices.

  • Develop and maintain productive customer and staff relationships.

  • Other duties may also be assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and four years of audit, privacy, compliance or other relevant experience in higher education, health care, research-based non-profit organizations, or government contracting or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify and assess risk and exposures across a wide variety of processes.

  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team or independently as an individual contributor.

  • Strong customer focus.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal statutes, laws and regulations.

  • Certifications and Licenses:

  • Compliance/Privacy certification desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

  • Frequently sitting.

  • Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds;

  • Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Occasionally work evenings and weekends.
