Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Rights Management & Payment Operations: The Deal Operations Specialist works closely with Client Legal, Business Affairs, Finance, and Metadata Teams as well as external partners to on-board new partners, enter terms in Client contract database, update internal trackers, request upfront payments, and kick off contractually required next steps downstream. They ensure that existing processes are followed and are responsible for developing and implementing new processes where necessary.

  • Deal Implementation Strategy & Execution: The Deal Operations Specialist is a subject matter expert on deal implementation. They drive implementation of new contracts and contract changes at the deal, payment, and title level across relevant systems and teams. They perform monthly and quarterly reviews to ensure changes are implemented consistently and correctly.

  • Operational Reporting & Data Maintenance: The Deal Operations Specialist creates and reviews reporting to support business and content operations with a focus on rights management and key financial terms. They manage the validation and upkeep of Client contract data and manage validation of deal terms and royalty data at period close.

  • General Support: Deal Operations Specialist provides general support for the Deal & Production Operations Team, including data clean-up projects, ad hoc research, inquiry response, and trouble tickets.

Role Requirements:

  • Business fluency in Japanese and English, both written and spoken

  • B.A. or equivalent degree preferred

  • Experience in an entertainment, digital media or publishing field and/or experience with contracts/IP licensing

  • Functional fluency in Outlook, Excel, MS Word and Power Point.

  • Data entry experience, demonstrated high level of accuracy.

  • Working knowledge of database concepts and best practices.

  • Working knowledge of SQL.

  • Demonstrated multi-tasking and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced time sensitive environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work with a wide variety of people.

  • Demonstrated focused attention to detail

  • Highly organized

Preferred but Not Required Qualifications:

  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills

  • Intermediate SQL skills
