This Assistant/Associate Scientist position will work in the Biologics Downstream Process Development group in Summit, New Jersey and will focus on biologics downstream process development and be responsible for the scale up purification and tox material production for early and commercial phase development. The successful applicant should be a highly motivated and collaborative individual with strong technical and organizational skills. The position is an excellent growth and learning opportunity and will work closely with experienced scientists in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Execute harvest and downstream processing of biologics produced in mammalian cell culture or microbial cell culture, work collaboratively with other functional groups such as cell line, upstream and analytical development, perform routine lab activities including buffer preparation, column packing and sample submission, maintain lab supply inventories, detail-oriented tracking and documenting of experimental results in laboratory notebooks and databases, analyze, summarize, and present analytical results to manager and other team members.
Knowledge and/or experience with downstream process development including chromatography, filtration, AKTA FPLC systems (particularly unicorn software), outstanding critical thinking and organizational skills, lab notebook practices, and attention to details, good verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to function in a collaborative/team-oriented environment, ability to clearly communicate with senior management.
Requires a BS degree in a life science. (biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, chemical engineering, biology or equivalent)
