  • Involves the design, building, testing, and implementation of clinical application systems. Provides support to clinical users through knowledge of clinical processes, documentation needs, workflows, and clinical practice standards, when adapting software to meet their needs. Works with clinicians to create or adapt written protocols. Prepares detailed specs encompassing clinical processes, information flow, risk and impact analysis. May provide customer service, managing issues, and maintenance.

Custom Scope (customizable, will be used in the job posting/advertisement):

  • The APeX Application Analyst – Phoenix functions as the primary support contact and expert for the Phoenix application. They work under the direction of the Team Lead and/or Manager to configure, build & install the application. They coordinate all issues that arise during the project for their application area. Key operational activities include primary responsibility to analyze work flows and understand policies, procedures and constraints of the clinical or business operations support by the application. In depth and precise investigation and documentation of operational specifications and application functionality is required.  Key technical activities include the analysis of new releases to determine how workflow should be modified, building and populating databases and tables during initial system configuration, conducting system testing and conversion data validation. The application analyst develops and documents internal procedures and establishes change control processes for the application.

  • The APeX Application Analyst – Phoenix also develops user training aids and trains end users in workflow and use of the application. They functions as the primary contact to manage problems and questions from end-users during training, go-live, stabilization and on-going support (7x24).  Successful candidates are skilled communicators who made decisions independently and in collaboration with others up and down the project structure.  They are considered technical leaders with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas. Attention to detail is a critical skill for this position.  Successful candidates enjoy helping other user to learn and adopt to use of the application.

  • The APeX Application Analyst – Phoenix must have 2+ years of experience in implementing and/or supporting one or more of the following APeX/IT applications:

  • Phoenix (preferred)

  • Ambulatory

  • Orders

  • Optime / Anesthesia

  • Other systems supporting Transplant operations

Key Responsibilities

  • List key functions and the estimated percentage of time spent performing each of the responsibilities.   • Leads the development of new projects at high levels of complexity and broad scope. Functions as a resource to resolve systems analysis and testing issues. Works to resolve technical challenges, as well as interpersonal and / or team performance issues in regards to development.

  • With subject matter experts, develop and document precise operational specifications and match these to system capabilities

  • Complete assigned project deliverables accurately and on time

  • Facilitate workflow validation & system testing

  • Support end-users and facilitate end user adoption

  • Broadly encompassing or highly In-depth knowledge of 1-2 areas of focus in clinical applications specialty area(s). Knowledge of operations, systems and functions, including planning, design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.

  • Ability to apply advanced problem-resolution skills to highly complex issues, quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.

  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills to effectively train, support, and collaborate productively with clinical users and key stakeholders at all professional and technical levels.

  • Advanced organizational and project management skills, and ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule.

  • Advanced written and verbal communications skills, to convey highly-technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical users and staff in a specific, clear, and concise manner.

  • Advanced analytical skills and expertise in documentation and reporting, with the ability to apply metrics, plan and implement testing systems, collect and analyze performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses for management use.

  • Advanced ability to serve as a technical leader and information resource, and to work collaboratively with key personnel and management, providing guidance and recommendations on systems, improvements, upgrades, and industry advances and trends.

  • Available for 7X24 application support

Education, Licenses and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and / or equivalent combination of experience / training.

  • 2+ years of experience with APeX clinical and/or other Transplant IT applications

  • Academic Medical Center experience
